Ingredients

For the Cake Layers
  • 1 box pound cake or angel food cake cubed
For the Berry Layers
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
For the Cream Layers
  • 16 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream cold

Equipment

  • Large glass bowl
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

Method

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually beat in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip the cold heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
  3. Begin layering the trifle in a large glass bowl. Start with a layer of cubed pound cake.
  4. Add a layer of the cream mixture over the cake.
  5. Scatter a layer of mixed berries over the cream.
  6. Repeat the layers: cake, cream, berries, until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of cream topped with berries.
  7. Chill the trifle for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

You can use store-bought pound cake or angel food cake for convenience. For an extra festive touch, you can add a few blueberries and sliced strawberries on top of the final cream layer to create a flag design.
