Ingredients

For the Churro Pastry
  • 150 ml Water
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp White Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Canola Oil
  • 60 grams All Purpose Flour
For the Cinnamon Sugar
  • 100 grams White Sugar
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Piping bag
  • Closed star piping tip
  • Baking tray
  • Parchment paper
  • Air fryer
  • Bowl

Method

  1. Gather all your ingredients and equipment before you begin. The churro dough comes together quickly.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine water, salt, 1 tbsp sugar, and 1 tbsp oil. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar and salt.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the flour until a smooth ball forms. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
  4. Fit a piping bag with a closed star tip (like a 2D tip). Place the churro dough into the bag and twist the end. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  5. Pipe 2-inch churro bites onto the parchment paper. Use scissors to trim the dough.
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 360F for 2 minutes.
  7. Place half of the churro bites in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them. Spray with cooking oil.
  8. Fry for 10 minutes, turning them over halfway through. Continue to fry for another 5 minutes until golden and crispy.
  9. While the first batch is cooking, mix together the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl for the cinnamon sugar coating.
  10. Immediately toss the cooked churro bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Set aside.
  11. Repeat the air frying and coating process with the remaining churro bites.
  12. Serve warm with caramel sauce.

Notes

These churro bites are best served warm. You can make a simple caramel sauce by combining condensed milk, butter, and brown sugar in a saucepan and cooking until thickened.
