Method
- Gather all your ingredients and equipment before you begin. The churro dough comes together quickly.
- In a small saucepan, combine water, salt, 1 tbsp sugar, and 1 tbsp oil. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar and salt.
- Remove from heat and stir in the flour until a smooth ball forms. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
- Fit a piping bag with a closed star tip (like a 2D tip). Place the churro dough into the bag and twist the end. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Pipe 2-inch churro bites onto the parchment paper. Use scissors to trim the dough.
- Preheat your air fryer to 360F for 2 minutes.
- Place half of the churro bites in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them. Spray with cooking oil.
- Fry for 10 minutes, turning them over halfway through. Continue to fry for another 5 minutes until golden and crispy.
- While the first batch is cooking, mix together the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl for the cinnamon sugar coating.
- Immediately toss the cooked churro bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Set aside.
- Repeat the air frying and coating process with the remaining churro bites.
- Serve warm with caramel sauce.
Notes
These churro bites are best served warm. You can make a simple caramel sauce by combining condensed milk, butter, and brown sugar in a saucepan and cooking until thickened.
