Method
 

  1. Season the sirloin steak with chili powder, cumin, garlic salt, and black pepper.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the steak for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to your desired doneness. Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing thinly.
  3. Toast the hoagie rolls if desired.
  4. Spread refried beans on the bottom half of each roll. Top with mayonnaise.
  5. Layer the sliced steak, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, sliced tomatoes, and shredded lettuce on top of the mayonnaise.
  6. Add optional toppings like avocado, red onions, jalapeños, and hot sauce.
  7. Squeeze lime juice over the fillings, if desired. Place the top half of the roll on top.
