- Season the sirloin steak with chili powder, cumin, garlic salt, and black pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the steak for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to your desired doneness. Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing thinly.
- Toast the hoagie rolls if desired.
- Spread refried beans on the bottom half of each roll. Top with mayonnaise.
- Layer the sliced steak, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, sliced tomatoes, and shredded lettuce on top of the mayonnaise.
- Add optional toppings like avocado, red onions, jalapeños, and hot sauce.
- Squeeze lime juice over the fillings, if desired. Place the top half of the roll on top.
